After 33 years of dedicated service to Maryland's Baltimore and Eastern Shore communities, Shura—a health and human services organization—commissioned a complete visual identity refresh to better align with their core ethos of providing fulfillment, encouraging independence, and treating clients like family members. To bring this philosophy to life dynamically, we designed a warm and accessible visual identity centered around kindness, positioning Shura as an active guide and support system rather than a cold, institutional resource.

Overview

After 33 years of dedicated service to Maryland's Baltimore and Eastern Shore communities, Shura—a health and human services organization—commissioned a complete visual identity refresh to better align with their core ethos of providing fulfillment, encouraging independence, and treating clients like family members. To bring this philosophy to life dynamically, we designed a warm and accessible visual identity centered around kindness, positioning Shura as an active guide and support system rather than a cold, institutional resource. The resulting logo mark is a symbol of service and care for humanity, integrating a bold wordmark with a star to represent personal fulfillment, dual hearts to represent care, and circling shooting elements that symbolize continuous connection, friendship, and kindness.

Color Strategy & Visual Hierarchy

The campaign's color strategy draws direct inspiration from the freedom of camp life and the empathetic nature of the behavioral health industry, intentionally moving away from a traditional, sterile clinical aesthetic. The primary palette establishes a natural, calm, and deeply human foundation utilizing Forest Green and white to express renewal, balance, and self-direction. To break down the barriers of traditional medical branding, a soft and restrained secondary palette introduces subtle accent tones that inject warmth and optimism into the brand system, creating a clean, instantly recognizable informational hierarchy across all digital, print, and physical touchpoints.

Photography & Graphic Assets

To mirror the strength and organic humanity of the organization, the brand assets and photography rely on a straightforward, humanistic approach designed for maximum community accessibility and public connection. The iconography serves as a direct extension of the identity, cleanly visualizing Shura's values, mission, and vision through universal vector assets that can be easily understood by families and partners alike. This is balanced by an authentic photographic strategy that focuses entirely on real, unscripted moments—highlighting the genuine bonding, everyday friendships, and personal self-fulfillment of the people Shura supports.

Collateral & Lifestyle Branding

The accompanying collateral, merchandise, and stationery layout was engineered to play into the welcoming essence of modern streetwear culture and lifestyle branding, ensuring that clients feel a deep sense of belonging and community. By executing high-end lifestyle design across t-shirts, tote bags, mugs, and business stationary, the identity successfully breaks down institutional barriers and internal hierarchies. This intentional design choice beautifully honors the owner's ultimate vision for the organization: that when Shura's caregivers are out in the community with their clients, the design blends them together seamlessly, making it impossible to tell who is the client and who is the caregiver.
